985 Woodbine
985: the vision
The proposal will provide a revitalized grocery store and two residential buildings of 10- and 35-storeys directly adjacent to Woodbine TTC Station. With 646 new residential units, including 14 rental replacement units, the proposal supports the growing need for diverse housing in the area.
Guiding principles
Spaces for the Community
We are excited to hear from you about what kinds of public spaces the community would like to see in our proposal. Head down to the Contact Us section and let us know what ideas you might have.
Revitalized Grocery Store
The proposal will involve upgrading the existing grocery store use on site in order to improve the shopping experience for the community.
Introduce Dynamic Housing Options
In addition to replacing existing rental units on site, the proposal will provide additional and much needed housing. The overall development will be comprised of 139 studio units (22%), 271 one-bedroom units (42%), 166 two-bedroom units (26%), and 70 three-bedroom units (11%), in keeping with the recommended unit mix in the Growing Up Guidelines.
Locate Housing Near Transit
Directly adjacent to Woodbine Subway Station, at the major intersection of Woodbine and Danforth Ave, this site is an ideal location for new residences.
Improve the Public Realm and Streetscape
The design and uses at grade, including a grocery store at the ground levels, will improve the pedestrian experience along Danforth and Woodbine Ave. A new Privately Owned Public Space (POPS) on the west side of the site will complement and enhance ground floor retail uses along Woodbine Ave.
